In February, architect Chip Greenberg and members of the church advisory group completed a significant feasibility study, which essentially finds it feasible that we could create and maintain a capable, roughly 180-seat theatre in the former United Church of Putney, if we follow the recommendations set forth in the study findings. These include a new addition at the rear of the building, numerous building improvements to meet accessibility and fire codes, and raked seating and other changes to allow theatre production in the former sanctuary area, keeping it otherwise the same as much as possible (including the comfortable pews). We intend to send a newsletter explaining this issue in more detail in mid-March, and to put the complete feasibility study online for public consideration some weeks prior to a public meeting regarding the project, to be held on Sunday, April 17 at 1:30pm at the church.
