On October 3, Putney turned out in force for a wonderful event, celebrating the groundbreaking of the general store. Doug Waterman arrived at 6 am to grill chickens donated by our new proprietor-to-be, Ming Chou, and Pepsi gave out free drinks, then gave Putney Historical Society a $10000 check. Ted Brady of Patrick Leahy’s office, and Paul Bruhn of the Preservation Trust of Vermont spoke. Children had a ball playing games, run by the Putney middle schoolers. Barry Stockwell organized excellent music, including the Stockwell Bros., the PCS Rockshop, Leon Cooper and Julian Browne, the Main Street Arts Band, and Amy Cann.
The foundation is to be poured this coming week.
